MovieCrow Box Office Report - March 9 to 12

Last weekend saw another slew of Tamil movies releasing at the box office, thereby getting limited attention from the movie buffs. Also, the Hollywood film, Kong: Skull Island was the top priority for multiplex audiences. Check out the box office ranking of Tamil movies in Chennai during last weekend.

1. Motta Shiva Ketta Shiva

Raghava Lawrence's Motta Shiva Ketta Shiva opened to scathing reviews, with many of the critics hammering the film for its over-the-top masala elements. However, the movie took a decent opening, thanks to Lawrence's recent hits.

2. Kuttram 23

Arun Vijay's Kuttram 23, directed by Arivazhagan, lost many of its screens to new releases in spite of the positive reviews and word of mouth. The movie would have definitely fared much better if there was more breathing space for it.

3. Maanagaram

Directed by debutant Lokesh, Maanagaram is creating the right buzz among the movie buffs and critics. Many multiplexes like Vettri Theatres have moved the film to their larger screens this week due to the growing support from the audience.

Other Movies

Yaakkai and Mupparimaanam sank without a trace, while Baasha was replaced by new movies. Upcoming week's releases GV Prakash's Bruce Lee and Sibiraj's Kattappava Kaanom will be clashing at the box office along with a handful of hardly known film this weekend.
