The plot of Vanamagan has been revealed

The first look and teaser of actor Jayam Ravi's upcoming movie Vanamagan had us thinking if he was donning a Tarzan-type role. The fact that he was playing a forest-person who encounters a girl and happens to venture into the city convinced movie buffs that the this AL Vijay directorial may be inspired from George of the Jungle series. However, in a recent interview to a leading magazine, the director has revealed that Vanamagan is inspired from Alexander Dereims' documentary film Save the Jarawas.

Actor Jayam Ravi plays a forest bred, who belongs to the nomadic tribe of Jarawas, located in the Andamans with a population of just 400. He encounters a tourist (Sayesha Saigal) while she is on a trip to Andaman and ends up landing with her at Chennai. The plot that follows and whether or not he'd return to his island is what forms the story. Also starring Vela Ramamurthy and Prakash Raj, the movie has been produced by Think Big Studios and comes with the tagline Son of Nature.  With music by Harris Jayaraj, cinematography by Thirrunavukkarasu and Antony for the edits, Vanamagan is expected to have a summer release this year.
