Malayalam Film Industry comes together against the inhuman violence on actress

Following the unfortunate mishap with a popular malayali actress, wherein charges under sections 366, 376 and 66 of the Indian Penal Code were filed against the perpetuators, the Malayalam Film Industry on Sunday gathered together in silent protest against the inhuman violence on the actress. Prominent Malayalam film personalities like actors Mamootty, Manju Warrier, Dileep and director Kamal took part in this protest and voiced their support for the actress in question. A few excerpts from what was said :

Mamootty

“You have my word. We are with you. You are not alone. There is a big group of people that loves you and supports you in your fight,”

Dileep

“This is not an issue that concerns only film industry but our entire state,”

Director Kamal

“This is a big lesson for us the people of Kerala, who were living in a bubble thinking such things won’t happen here. This incident burst that bubble,”

This outrage was a result of the incident that took place on the night of Friday i.e February 17, 2017 wherein the actor's car was force-entered by a gang of men, who staged an attack on her driver and force-drove around for about one whole hour. Compromising pictures and videos are also said to have been taken of the actor during this drive.

Actors such as Prithviraj, Mohanlal, Manju Warrier, Rima Kallingal and many others have shown their solidarity against the incident (even pointed out the insensitivity with which it is being treated) through their social networking pages.

Mohanlal

It is most unfortunate to hear about this atrocity perpetrated on a Lady. Such acts should not only be condemned vehemently by one and all but exemplary punishment should be handed out to these criminals who are worse than animals so that it serves as a lesson to similar minded characters who I will not even term as humans...

Prithviraj

Woke up today morning to the horrifying news that has by now been reported, misreported and sensationalized. As disturbing as it was, I refrained from saying something on what happened to one of the most beautiful girls I know because I knew whatever I or any one among our fraternity say, will only be fodder to click baits and TRP mongering...

please..the most we can collectively do at this moment..is to respect the guts of this girl....

Yes..please let us have an effective investigation in place and please let's bring the bastards to justice asap..but please..let us also not allow anyone..ANYONE..to celebrate someone else's misfortune....

Rima Kallingal

....When a human being is going through the biggest horror of her life you had time and nerve to find sensational stories for your air time?

Taking a dig on certain media outlets which reported that the victim was raped, Kallingal wrote:
The girl must at least get raped right?

It would be brilliant if it was a gang rape.
Even more sensational if there is an iron rod and much savagery. The more the better. Right?

Amala Paul

...This was one of my biggest fears and now it has happened to my fellow actor. But...Hats off to such an iron lady! She is a true hero who saved other actresses from the same fate by courageously reporting the whole thing to the police!...

Nivin Pauly

...Our colleague, our friend went through a horrific experience, but she didn’t shy away, she didn’t hide. Instead, she has made all of you run into hiding, and run for your lives. We all stand with her,....

I commend her strength even in this tough times, and appeal to the media, the public and everyone around to show respect, sensitivity and support in this fight against atrocities against women.

Dulquer Salmaan

.. This is somebody's daughter, somebody's sister somebody's family and someone who has brought to life so many wonderful characters to us film lovers...

.. I request all our boys and men, young and old to be alert and vigilant. It's equally our responsibility to care about, look out for, and to respect & protect our women.
