Factors that postponed the release of S3
Actor Suriya's higly anticipated movie of the year Si3, which is also the third part of the Singham franchise has been delayed for the third time, from its pre-announced release date. The makers who had announced a worldwide release of the movie on republic day, had even clarified that there has been no change in the release date only to follow it with a quick retraction. Though the makers have constantly maintained "external factors" to be the reason behind these constant postponement, we couldn't help but notice these chronological reasons.
- S3 was first expected to be released for Diwali last year (October 2016) but before an official date could be locked, the movie backed out of the race citing shooting delays.
- The first official release date announced for the movie was December 16, 2016. But the Indian Banknote demonetization and its after effects made the makers review their decision.
- The movie had finally placed itself for a Christmas holiday release (December 26, 2016) only to be pushed further by the untimely demise of the then Chief Minister J. Jayalalitha.
- Demand of a grand opening and lack of holiday slots finally placed Si3 (S3 had undergone this publicity change keeping the tax exemptions in mind) for a release on January 26, 2017. However the movie stands postponed as the Jallikattu protests and the massacre that followed have still not died in the state.
Touted to be one the most expensive movie of the series, Si3 has been directed by Hari and also starrs Anushka Shetty and Shruthi Haasan in lead roles. With Harris Jayaraj for the music, the movie has been produced by K.E.Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green and will be released by Eros International.
