Taramani Songs - Music Review

Ramesh Kannan

Taramani is an upcoming drama film directed by Ram of Katradhu Tamizh fame with Vasanth Ravi and Andrea as a lead. Yuvan Shankar Raja scores music for this movie. Let's check out whether Yuvan able to continue his winning streak with Ram in Taramani or not.

Yaaro Uchikilay Meley:Album opens with Yaaro Uchikilay Meley and the tune treads on the customary territory of the composer while the song rides mainly on the groovy EDM synth beats. The song's only grouse being the Yuvan's vocals which deteriorate the breezy romantic number partially

Unn Badhil Vendi: Unn Badhil Vendi is a melancholy number and the song shines with the soulful lyrics of Na Muthukumar. The lead singer vocals bear the emotions very well and Siddharth's vocal has an uncanny resemblance to the Yuvan's. Sruthi gave adequate support to Sidharth, however the languishing tune overthrows the excitement to a little extent.

Unnai Unnai: Unnai Unnai's serene background's and clear vocals accentuate the simple lyrical beauty of Na Muthukumar's verses. Yuvan did a splendid job in the arrangements and behind the vocals adequately with terse support from Sruthi.

Kaadhal Oru Kattu Kadhai: Kaadhal Oru Kattu Kadhai, another EDM-dominated party track and Suvi's rap lyrics along with her funky vocals ups the ante of the foot tapping song. Yuvan throws out peppy synth sounds in the interludes while Rita lends her support sufficiently. Though, the song ends with the abrupt fast paced rap portions, overall lively soundscape makes this work.

Oru Koppai: Oru Koppai is a slow poison song and Andrea Jeremiah has done an exemplary work behind the mic and Yuvan throws in lounge'ish feel to the song with his hypnotic backgrounds dominated by soft Jazz keys and other assorted sounds. Ram throws out funny message in the middle of the song while Muthukumar's powerful lyrics makes this one easily one of the best song in the album.

Paavangalai: Paavangalai is a simple resonating familiar tune made better by the tinge of Arabic elements in the orchestration and the Islamic musical influence gels well with the thoughtful lyrics of Na Muthukumar. Mukesh, Senthildass and Yuvan Shankar Raja gave their support with the adequate vocals behind the mic.

Verdict:

Yuvan Shankar Raja's combination with Ram works magically in Taramani akin to their earlier collaborations with ample support from late Na. Muthukumar. The tunes are adequately intense and moving with minor hiccups notwithstanding.

Rating: 3/5
