An Intriguing Peek Into The Male Psyche

There is Ram's voiceover covering few aspects about the happenings around the geography of Chennai including the Indo-Srilanka fishermen issue. Everything is in good ambition but you fear if the film could turn to lecturing. It is not that these lectures are not interesting. It is as good as listening to those hard hitting Karu Pazhaniappan speeches. But try fitting them into a film and you wonder if it is the right way to go. But this fear is short lived as the film soon gets into storytelling mode. (more)

Taramani Movie Review

Taramani also attempts to remind people about how life should be lived the need to empathise even with animals, the need to protect our ecology, the importance in letting others live all in a non-preachy way. It also delves deep into the 'complex' things like globalisation, demonetisation, ego, desire, greed, lust, hypocrisy, compassion, frustration and more.(more)

Go for it to watch a bold female character and a fairly engaging screenplay that captures the essence of modern love and life.

The entire episode of the hero cheating women on the cell phone is out of place in this story. A question that sticks out like a sore thumb is how a moderately successful career woman like Andrea will ever hook up with a man of the heros stature which dilutes the drama towards the climax. Is Taramani only inhabited by the characters of Rams film is another question that pops up time and again. The second half sags to the point of boring mainly because the story deviates from the main plot. Ram cleverly sets the audience up in the first scene itself by quipping that he is tying the proverbial knot ("Muttikkum Muzhangalukkum Muduchi") between the knee and the calf, meaning that the film is what the audiences understands it to be. But alas, we are only half convinced.(more)

Unconventional cinema, but it still is one of the most realistic urban love stories

Though the film is 'A' certified, there isn't any visual disturbance as such, and the certification is only for the usage of cuss words. The film moves majorly on a narrative pattern, and that narration might not go well with a section of the audience. The film's runtime of 150 minutes seems a bit long, as the film becomes draggy towards the climax. (more)

A film that tries to do too much

The film boasts some natural actors. This is perhaps Andrea Jeremiah best role till date; she is excellent as a single working mother who, despite constantly battling the prowling eyes of men around her, walks around wearing clothes she is comfortable in. Debutant Vasanth Ravi has a good outing in his debut. However, the film belongs to director Ram who, at the end of the film, admits that his voice-overs need to be treated like Facebook status updates personal and political, relevant and irrelevant.(more)
