Krishnashtami Review

Chandramouli

We follow the journey of an NRI.

It takes about 5 minutes – and the very first song, to realize that the movie is seriously conscious of its budget. With multiple & tacky visual effects spread throughout and Varma’s attempt to portray France as Goa (who does that?), the only segment of this 141-minute motion picture which survives is the humor.

Vasu Varma’s direction is lengthy while his writing is the same old crap. These are the kind of movies which are keeping the audience away from the theater. Dinesh Kanagaratnam’s score is boring except for one sole song before half-time. Cinematography is steady while the stunts are just plain crappy.

Sunil is decent as the lead though he is unable to bring anything new to the character. His strength is his comical timing and he should concentrate on making better comedy movies. Dimple Chopade is good. Ashutosh Rana is amazing – especially during the humor scenes. The supporting cast is the same.

Krishnashtami is a masala flick which shines purely due to the humor and the greatness of the comedians. They are so good in their role and their timing, that the rest of the plot doesn’t matter for those few minutes. However, when Varma does bring us back to the actual story, the only thought with which one leaves from the theater is the route to the nearest pharmacy for a migraine pill.
