Akhil The Power of Jua Review

After quite a number of delays in many more ways than one – right from the director to the production to the release, Jr. Akkineni’s debut flick hits the screens around the world today. It is also a very talented Nithiin’s debut as a producer while Vinayak returns yet again to launch yet another star after Bellamkonda Sreenivaas.

We follow a young man as he pursues his love across continents.

In typical Vinayak fashion, the movie moves with sensationally quick cuts – which could even give a headache to Michael Bay. The scenes move from one situation to another, without any form of logic, transition or cuts – ultimately ending up forming a not-so-tasty mixture.

V.V.Vinayak’s direction is probably the most horrible thing that has happened to the Telugu Film Industry. His immaturity is barrier-breaking while his screenplay just moves along for no reason whatsoever, just like the innumerable characters. The music is peppy and provides ample scope to display Akhil’s talents. Mani Sharma’s background score is deafening. Amol Rathod’s cinematography is quick. Ravi Verma’s action is decent.

Akhil Akkineni makes a mixed debut – just like how a debut is meant to be. He burns the dance floor, performs kicks with amazing ease and is able to hold himself well in front of a camera, but has too much of his father in him. Sayesha Saigal makes a wonderful debut and is quite an actress. The supporting cast is the regular mix. The Special Appearances are awesome!

Akhil is a Rs. 35 crore action adventure which is nothing out of the ordinary for the Telugu Film Industry. There are the regular songs, the regular stunts, the regular jokes and the regular drama – all leading to the regular climax. While Akhil makes a debut which is commendable, he doesn’t leave any major impact whatsoever.
