24 SWOT Analysis - Suriya's ambitious comeback vehicle

Even before Theri's buzz coming down, yet another biggie – Suriya's 24 will be hitting the screens this weekend. Directed by Vikram K Kumar, Samantha plays the leading lady in the film, which has music by AR Rahman.

Strengths

• With his last two films as the lead hero – Anjaan and Masss not turning out to be hits, Suriya is hungry to make it big at the box office with 24. According to pre-release buzz, Suriya has come up with a stunning performance as Athreya (the deadly villain) and he has also performed dangerous stunts for the film. If backed by a powerful screenplay, this very well could be the blockbuster that Suriya has been looking for.
• Vikram K Kumar is best-known for his spine-chilling horror film, Yaavarum Nalam, and with 24, he has taken up Time Travel as the core concept. Although last year's release Indru Netru Naalai was also based on time travelling, 24 is expected to stand out, thanks to the humongous budget and experienced team involved in the project.
• Trust AR Rahman to lift the movie couple of notches up with his stellar background score, which will be very vital given the subject of the film. Few of the songs have already become chartbusters and they are expected to make a bigger impact with the visuals.

Opportunity

• Suriya's 24 will release in around 270 screens in the US, half of which is for the Telugu version. This goes to show how Suriya has the edge over other current generation actors in the Telugu market. Expect the movie to further strengthen Suriya's foothold among Telugu audience. 

Threat

• Hollywood biggie Captain America: Civil War will directly clash with 24 at the urban multiplexes and also across overseas locations. Theri and Manithan are also holding on to sizeable number of screens across Chennai. It is vital for 24 to get overwhelming reviews and word of mouth to emerge as a sweeping winner at the box office.
