A funny, feel-good drama that falls prey to cliches

Oho Enthan Baby is a great attempt at crafting a love story that reflects this age's love story. The film delivered what it promised, but it's only half-baked.(more)

Charming cast makes this romcom click

ho Enthan Baby's plot developments do make us say, 'Oh so familiar, baby' (a couple of cheeky past romantic episodes, a getaway to a beach destination, a duplicitous ex-boyfriend, a redemption arc for an abusive character) and the resolutions it offers are too neat for characters who are flawed and scarred, but there is enough freshness in the filmmaking to keep us engaged and overlook the convenient writing (all it takes is one scene for characters to change their stance). But given that Krishnakumar Ramakumar wants to keep his film clearly in the romcom zone, the comfort food genre of movies, we are able to look past the film's failings (like the not-so-organic manner in which a breakup happens). And the cast the confident first-timers Rudra and Mithila Palkar, a self-referential Vishnu Vishal, a sporting Mysskin and a dependable Karunakaran sells the romcom charm.(more)

A romance story that has its moments

There is also Mysskin playing himself and Vishnu Vishal (who is also the producer) playing himself; the digs at their own earlier work were a neat touch. While the dialogues work theres one on anger (Anger is not a trait. Its a disease.) that I found punchy the music by Jen Martin also has much going for it. While director Krishnakumar delved deep in his second half, he chose to pepper the first half with just vibe and colour. A little more depth there could have made Oho Enthan Baby a lot more solid.(more)

Interesting ideas marred by unearned resolutions

Oho Enthan Baby is another film that promises much and delivers less. It had a pretty decent start for an emotional love story, only to lose itself in the woods. The lack of proper alignment between the characters and their motivations unhooks us from the narrative and lets it stay that way.(more)
