Harmless One Time Watch
A passable flick which had the potential to provide impact at its emotional highs, but watered down due to the underwhelming performances, especially by the lead hero makes it an average watch.(more)

A breezy and no-frills ode to friendship, love, and home
There is a lot going for Nanban Oruvan Vantha Piragu, but there are portions that are barely explored. Yes, the film is about friendship, but it is not about the other friends in the gang. It would have helped Nanban Oruvan Vantha Piragu to have more layers to the ones that stayed with him, come what may. During an important conflict, we are asked to willingly suspend our disbelief, but in a film that feels so rooted and real otherwise, it becomes a tall ask. Why did the friends actually not keep in touch? Anand isnt Kosaksi Pasapugazh, even if this film too starts with a plane ride. Why did Kannamma not pick the call or have a conversation with Anand? They arent living in the times of Kamali and Surya, right? Why change the course of a fun-loving character just for the protagonist to develop a more rounded arc? Why is Kannamma suddenly portrayed as the long-lost cousin of 7G Rainbow Colonys Anitha? Why care about stakes suddenly when the makers were doing just fine giving us an experience rather than a message through Nanban Oruvan Vantha Piragu? (more)
