Samar lacks thrills

Samar is again proof of the importance of a watertight screenplay, particularly for a thriller. A lot of thought has been put into creating the basic idea and director. The end product is not that captivating.(more)

An all new experience for Tamil commercial cinema viewers

It is technically slick with great camera work by Richard M Nathan in Bangkok and Pudhuchery, and film is racy at 2 hours 15 minutes. Samar is an engaging film that is quite a different attempt for Tamil cinema

If there is something to nitpick, it is only that the film never transcends its genre thrills to become something more. It is well scripted and well shot, and competently acted as well, but lacks a truly great moment or performance. And, barring Azhago Azhagu..., the other songs feel unwarranted. (more)
