Adanga Maru has a routine plot, but the treatment makes it fast-paced and interesting.

A little more detailing on other characters, strong antagonists and better VFX shots could have made the movie a much better experience.(more)

Adangamaru's fresh screenplay and packaging makes this intense revenge drama, a good watch!

Director Karthik Thangavel has attempted to give an intense revenge drama with a tinge of technology. One can definitely say that the director has succeeded to a greater extent, except for the fact that the premise could have been much stronger.(more)

Jayam Ravi's earnest performance stands out in this predictable action thriller

The film works to a large extent on the macho image of Jayam Ravi as a socially responsible cop who transforms into a man obsessed with revenge. He uses his brains more than his brawn and aided by technology, he ensnares the villains.(more)

Jayam Ravi is convincing in the engaging cop drama

In a role that requires him to be angry and frustrated most of the time, Jayam Ravi is convincing. There are multiple loopholes in the film but as viewers, we dont get the time to dwell on them because of the pace.(more)

A Thrilling Cop Drama That Banks On Collective Anger Against Power Centres

The film silently speaks of a generation that has grown up without too many compunctions; that feels proudly entitled. It is also a reminder of the dangers that lurk. Even Sampath's character gets a reality check only as a parent, when his daughter questions how he would react if she had been the victim. Till then, cow-towing to the powers mattered; after that, his attitude too changes to reflect the title - refuse to yield. (more)

Jayam Ravi has a message in this intense thriller

The core premise of Adanga Maru is about the injustice meted out to women by lustful men and how the system watches them suffer. Taking up a relevant issue, Karthik Thangavel has etched a gripping tale which sometimes goes overboard. (more)

Jayam Ravi's earnest performance stands out in this predictable action thriller

The story is as old as the hills and various films on similar themes have come in the past in all languages. The first half as vigilante cop is more gripping that the second half where the hero goes on a revenge romp. But it is Ravi's earnest and powerful performance and certain scenes that stand out in an otherwise predictable action thriller. The background score of Sam CS heightens the tension in the film. A revenge drama saved by clever writing

Considering the nifty touches debutant director Karthik Thangavel has added to the script, it's hard to brush the film under the carpet as just another cop revenge saga. There are some clever bits, such as the one where Subash finds a victim's home address from going through her phone's Amazon app. While films usually denote the use of drugs with white powder, credit cards and rolled up rupee notes, Adanga Maru sheds light on disturbing trends such as hotboxing where people smoke up inside a closed environment like a car to maximise the effect of the drugs.(more)

This Jayam Ravi Starrer Is A Well-made Movie!

Though the movie comes with an age-old concept without much twists and turns, the screen treatment by the director, Karthik Thangavel, engages the audience throughout the movie. The brisk screenplay doesn't allow the audience to find faults or loopholes in the movie.(more)

Go for this techno-driven revenge drama for which Jayam Ravi has put in a lot of hard work.

The first half sets up the character of the hero and his predicament in an interesting manner and curiosity is raised as to how the hero will take on the police force and the powerful villains single-handed. The use of cellphone technology to outwit such powerful opponents is also stokes the interest. The sequence that takes the cake is the one in which one of the villains is killed by creating a mobile game in which the public participates in.(more)

Adanga Maru would have become an appealing cop action drama if its second half was slick.

The revenge saga in the latter is violent and a few ideas could have been chopped. Certain sequences are long and drag quite a lot. The technology usage drained out the believability factor and it was difficult to connect with the progression after an extent. The killing-game concept towards the end was amateurish.(more)

An engaging thriller worth a watch

There's nothing new by way of story in the revenge saga. Ravi as such does not have powerful villains. What works in the movie's favor are the brilliant packaging by debutant Karthik Thangavel and the pace with which he narrates the story. The speedy screenplay never allows you to think about the logical loopholes in the movie. The director has also penned some hard-hitting dialogues against sexual crimes on women. Sam CS's theme music warrants mention. Sathyan Soorian's cinematography is praiseworthy. Overall, an engaging thriller worth a watch.(more)

This Jayam Ravi Starrer Is A Well-made Movie!

ayam Ravi is impressive throughout and stands as the major highlight of Adanga Maru. He fits the bill of a police officer and has emoted extremely well. Raashi Khanna is gorgeous but has lesser work to do. The romantic scenes between them seem unwanted and don't excite the audience.(more)

Jayam Ravi As The Cop Who Takes On A Social Evil

If not for his uniform, he could well be a character right out of a psycho thriller fiction; the sociopath who indulges his narcissism through deviant artistic pursuits. Here though, Subhash fights for the greater good, so the streak of extreme violence and the sweet release that comes from doling out justice that's improbable in real life is made much of, and is the dominant theme that Adanga Maru capitalises on - not unlike most Shankar directorials, we have to say.(more)
