A political satire that is moderately funny

RJ Balaji is adequate and does a neat job. While I thought that roping in Nanjil Sampath was a gimmick, he is cleverly and aptly used. I really hoped the casting and performance of the supporting cast was better. Most of the jokes are merely direct references to recent happenings or personalities. But nothing memorable or funny is created or recreated.(more)

Neatly written and executed political satire

Leon James' songs are already big hits and the young composer has done a good job in the re-recording too. The crisp runtime of 124 minutes is an added advantage. Overall, in this political season, LKG is a timely release and an eye opener for all the young voters.(more)

LKG is mostly a satisfying political satire and inarguably the best among the recent crop of political films.

LKG is an RJ Balaji show all the way. The actor, who is also the writer, comes up with a script that uses contemporary political, film and social media references in superb fashion. From a chief minister's hospitalisation, memorial drama and Marina protests to IPL, Bigg Boss, Thala-Thalapathy fights and even YouTube reviewers, no one is spared.(more)

RJ Balaji film is clever political satire

Leon James' music helps the film enormously. Ethanai Kaalam Thaan Emathuvaar is apt for the tone of the film and is not used liberally. In addition to that, the background score couldn't have been better for this political satire. The bottom line is LKG is fun but comes with an expiry date.(more)

Neither funny nor boring

The problem with LKG is that it can hardly be viewed as a film, but a culmination of video memes and trolls on the political developments in the State. The intent - to write a political satire - is appreciable, but not the writing.(more)
