A decent action drama with some enjoyable stretches!

Suttu Pidikka Utharavu is a fairly passable watch that will not make you repent for the time spent at the cinema hall. It isn't great cinema, but is good time pass.(more)

The movie could have been a slick thriller had the screenplay been more engaging with a convincing and a comparatively better climax.

Vikranth is OK in his role while director Suseinthiran, who makes his acting debut with the movie, is apt for his character. Mysskin delivers the right body language for an impatient and taut cop whereas Athulyas character and the scenes which involve her do not make much impact.(more)

A racy thriller that works in parts

Suttu Pidikka Utharavu is a functional thriller but had the director concentrated more on the logical loopholes, worked more on the screenplay, the film would have ended up as a taut thriller. Nevertheless, the attempt of the director on making a film without usual commercial stereotypes is laudable!(more)

A clever climax saves this thriller

While Suttu Pidikka Utharavu might not be ingenious, it is still a reasonable addition to the thriller films that are bombarding Tamil cinema. It also served as a reminder of why I had liked Ramprakash's debut film. His heart is in the right place, and the effort to stand out even while dealing with cliches is refreshing. In this film, he has put all his money on the final act, and I suppose its fairly vindicated, given that a large part of the pleasure of watching thrillers is being made to look a fool for attempting to guess the ending. On that front, the director ensures that Suttu Pidikka Utharavu, a film hurtling towards ruin, is cleverly redeemed as a bumpy, but satisfying ride.(more)

Banking on a twist

There are quite a few logical loophopes as well - many of them involving Mysskin and his fractured hand - but those are minor grievances in an otherwise tight film that has the right intentions.(more)

Suttu Pidikka Utharavu is a decent thriller with an unexpected good climax twist.

There is a huge twist in the climax that will really surprise and works well for the majority of the audiences, where the film tries to justify the loopholes in the first 2 hours. But the loopholes are too many in number that, the film fails to fill all of them. The film would have been crisper and on target if the screenplay was tighter and more interesting.(more)

Mysskin and the screenplay make this thriller work.

With Mysskin in peak form holding attention, chases that happen throughout and a screenplay without diversions like songs or commercial compromises, Suttu pidikka utharavu is a fine watch. (more)

Starring Mysskin, This Is A Solid Little Thriller With A Solid Twist

The dog that strays from its owner, the little girl who runs out of her house and gets sucked into the mayhem, the annoyingly hammy cop every loose strand comes together, even if some of it doesn't hold tight after the film.Even with small flaws, SPU keeps you interested, invested especially with Mysskin around(more)

A Thriller That Works In Parts

hen comes Ramprakash Rayyappa's prestige of a move. It works in isolation, but you spend a little over two minutes dwelling on it, it cracks the film wide open. Suddenly the violence in the initial portions doesnt sit well. This is all too humongous and elaborate for ends that only seemingly justify the means. It figures that the whole film is founded upon this twist. It is even admirable that a large part of the first half works. But despite its good parts, Suttu Pidikka Utharavu, like its literal meaning, does leave a bad taste in the mouth.(more)
