Iravukku Aayiram Kangal

Critics Review

Fairly well directed and enacted film that you would not regret going to!

An interesting aspect of the film is the name of its main characters. They are Bharath, Suseela, Ganesh, Vasanth, Roobala and Anitha. For all those who are acquainted with the crime and detection novels in Tamil, these names would be familiar. And to add to that, Maran has played his tribute of sorts in having the character of Lakshmy Ramakrishnan as a writer who specializes in this genre.(more)

Racy screenplay and edge of the seat narrative style

The film leaves a slew of questions to the viewers at interval point. The plot gets thicker as the story moves forward in the second half. With plenty of twists and turns, this whodunit is a pleasing watch for those who love murder mysteries, thanks to its edge-of-the-seat narrative style. The icing on the cake is the twin climax and the last scene which has ample scope for a riveting sequel.(more)

A murder mystery that works in parts

A well-written twist towards the end of Iravukku Aayiram Kangal serves as the film's biggest saving grace, but unfortunately, it comes so late that one has aleady lost interest in the film.(more)

IAK is a watchable crime thriller. Stronger characterizations and smarter thrills in the screenplay could have made it more enjoyable

There is a tinge of predictability, which could have been worked out by the makers with some more intense scenes. Most of the characters in the film have a very weak characterization and they don't seem to terrorize the audience at all. An amount of cinematic liberty has been taken by the makers, as we don't get answers to a few questions during the go. (more)

An intriguing plot let down by messy execution

With some more clarity and depth, Iravukku Aayiram Kangal could have been an interesting story to unravel. But what we are left with is pieces of a story that surprises us in parts but doesn't really make sense as a whole.(more)

A Taut Thriller With Twists At Every Turn

You can't really name too many flaws. I did wonder how palatial homes were so easy to walk into, though, with nary a locked door.(more)

A decent crime thriller

Iravukku Aayiram Kangal has a good story and it's a decent crime thriller but we wish the director could've handled the film in a better way, especially with the interesting list of actors and technicians on board.(more)

Go for this highly interesting murder mystery that impresses with its novel storytelling

ebutante Mu Maran has probably got a lot of inspiration from real life as well Sujatha to present a novel film in the style of a novel. Where he wins is by keeping the audience guessing till the end and throw up twists which no one see coming.(more)

A highly satisfying crime thriller

Aravinnd Singh's cinematography is top-notch as is San Lokesh's editing as he has managed to create a fine balance in this film that has a non-linear screenplay.(more)
