Sets, Ranveer shine, not the story!
Apart from the stunning visuals, it is Ranveer Singh that brings life into the film with his almost perfect portrayal of BajiraoBallalPeshwa! With an amazing body language and the Marathi dailect he picked up, he owns the character. (more)

Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Mallika Dutt Gharde] adorn the film with fascinating characters and inspirational sub-plots that advance into a stunning culmination. Despite a run time of almost 2.40 hours, Bhansali also sees to it that the writing is taut, the pacing is just right and at no point does th...(more)

The film is low on war scenes and mainly revolves around the romantic angle. A slight lapse of timeline detailing can be observed when Bajirao gets both Kashibai and Mastani pregnant around the same time even though he is actually shown to have been away for a battle. Also the introduction of an vi...(more)

The first half looks fabulous but slightly far-off - like watching an opera from seats high in a theatre's skies - the second half mesmerizes. Besides the admirable Mastani, a magnificent warrior-princess and a courageous lover, the film has Bajirao's aggrieved but dignified wife Kashibai and his widowed mother. Deepika is absolutely outstanding as Mastani, a woman in a man's...(more)

Deepika is brighter than Bhansalis opulence
Bajirao Mastani is a lengthy film that moves at a snails pace, in signature Bhansali style. The lyrical dialogues and literary brilliance of the dialogues bog the story down with overindulgence instead of striking the audience in awe of the grandeur at show. (more)

Bajirao Mastani is Magnificent. Fragile. Flawed.
Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known to paint the screen with his envisaged imagery that's meticulously opulent and furiously dramatic. Bajirao Mastani takes audacious creative liberties but is everything one would expect visually.(more)
