Much ado over nothing
It is quite clear that Saravanan is very particular that his films are drastically different from each other. Valiyavan bears no resemblance to either Engeyum Eppodhum or Ivan Vera Madhiri. But without a second thought, it is definitely his least impressive so far. (more)

Romance and revenge, but little energy to push them
Saravanan who also wrote the story, fails to get enough meat into the narrative, with the result that some scenes have been stretched to an almost breaking point. They clearly reminded one of the innumerable television serials where the effort to fill the 20-minute slot often appears laboured.(more)

Starts well, loses steam
A movie that depends on flashbacks makes the audience wait eagerly to find out unansweredquestions, and if that doesn't satisfy your appetite the movie itself would look haywire. Run of the mill
Director Saravanan is good in presenting us with interesting ideas and sequences but everything looks disjointed for a film which needs more scenes about boxing and sequences that depict the pain between a wounded father and son, rather than candy-floss romance and so-called funny sequences and pepp...(more)

Commercial Cinema Gone Wrong!
M Saravanan has baffled everyone with his poor execution and weak writing. For a movie which is just over 2 hours, most of the sequences will make you yawn thanks to the not so impressive editing by Subarak. (more)
