The areas that needed more focus have been handled with in a less serious way by director Sri Priya. The character of Malini itself is rather half-baked, with her nature fluctuating quite abruptly. At times she is na�ve and gullible, and in latter half, her transformation into the bold and revenge-seeking girl is too fast and looks unconvincing.(more)

Malini 22 Palayamkottai is essentially a revenge drama that is undaunted in its approach for resolving personal conflicts. Nithya Menen as Malini puts up a brave show in a role with a definitive character arc but she finds support only from a few such as Naresh and the veteran Kota Srinivasa Rao.(more)
