Phantom Trailer Review – A little over ambitious though a little promising!

The long awaited Saif and Katrina starrer Phantom’s trailer is out and it looks a promising thriller though a little over-ambitious. The trailer launch happened on the same day BajrangiBhaijaan crossed 200 crores at the box-office. This indicates an attempt to cash on Kabir Khan’s BB’s success as Saif is running through the worst phase of his career delivering flops after flops. However, the trailer looks good and the fact that it is written by HussainZaidi who wrote Black Friday and is based upon the novel Mumbai Avengers makes it an interesting watch.

After the attacks of 26/11 and other constant terror attacks, Indian people are feeling vulnerable and angry. Therefore, the head of India’s security agency and his team decides to put an end to this and kill the terrorists at their very home. To do this job, special agent Daniyal (Saif) is hired and is helped by Nawaz Mistry (Katrina) who works for an American security agency. Daniyal and Nawaz against all odds try and finish the job they had set out to do. Along the way they find out that in a mission like this there is always a price to pay, in this case a very personal price.

It’s one of those mission movies which involve some abrupt logic when it comes to Bollywood. The trailer suggests that there could be a lot of idealistic dialogues and maybe a confused storyline for the takers.  But that’s just an assumption and it could very well be an action packed political thriller. D-Day did it in 2013, Baby did it this year just fine too and therefore it would not be wrong to expect a lot from Phantom given the time in its making!

There is no song included in the trailer and the background music is also not something that would fascinate you. Coming on the dialogues, one doesn’t see any newness as such. Nor they are witty, nor stylish. However, the trailer has a lot of action, like blowing up of entire buildings, running from pillar to post and a whole lot of bombings!

Phantom might just be the one film Saif is waiting for! Humshakals, Happy Ending, Agent Vinod, Bullet Raja are some of his last few films and they have been disastrous and best forgotten. He is generally suited to thrillers and let’s see how well an impact he makes with it. Katrina on the other hand is struggling too with her choice of movies as though he is big on collection but her stardom is slowly dying.

The movie is out of August 28 and will definitely looks like an interesting watch for now.
