Khamoshiyan Review - Decent Horror is Back

Ameet Bhuvan

Trust the Bhats to put the scare back into horror. Written by Vikram Bhat and directed by new comer Karan, Khamoshiyan is an intriguing horror mystery that benefits with unknown but good actors and some strong writing.

Ali Zafar is a one book wonder who reaches a desolate house in Kashmir for inspiration. The owner Meera and her husband Jaidev are a mysterious duo who refuse to explain the weird happenings in the place. As Ali gets to know Meera more he discovers there is more to her Khamoshiyaans.

A good mix of eroticism and music, Khamoshiyan hits the right notes with story and scares. Not relying only on loud noise and CGI for scares which is the norm these days in Horror genre Khamoshiyan revels in a fleshed put story line and solid characters.

Helping the films cause is the lead actors. Gurmeet, Sapna and Ali Zafar are in fine form and while none of them have a star value they bring to the table credibility that endows the proceedings with believability. The stunning climax goes against the grain and surprises pleasantly enhancing the entire experience.

After a series of bland sad films in the genre, Khamoshiyan comes as a breath of fresh air. Catch this one for sure.
