Haider Opening Day Box Office Collection

Haider starring Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Kay Kay Menon, Tabu and Irrfan hit the screens yesterday. The film has received raving reviews from critics and audience. Haider is based on William Shakespeare's Hamlet and is set in Kashmir. It is the third installment of Vishal Bhardwaj's Shakespearean trilogy after Maqbool (Macbeth) and Omkara (Othello). Haider is not a regular Bollywood film, it's for a very niche audience. 

The film released in around 1200 screens in India. The film has collected around Rs. 6.14 crores on its opening day. The occupancy during the morning shows was only around 40 - 45%. The film has eventually picked up due to strong positive word of mouth. The collection were better for the evening and night shows.

The film has been doing well across Mumbai, Pune , Delhi NCR, Bangalore, Hyderabad, West Bengal and Rajasthan. The film will has opened on a five day holiday weekend which will help boost its business. Also the next big release this month would be Shahrukh Khan's Happy New Year which will hit the screens for Diwali.
