Music: Vishal – Shekhar

Lyrics: Vishal Dadlani, Anvita Dutt & Kumaar

1. Meherbaan 1

Tune-wise, Meherbaan is standard Vishal – Shekhar romantic song. It is only the guitars (by Sanjoy Das and Keba Jeremiah) that make it interesting in parts midway. The singers Shilpa Rao and Ash King share very good vocal chemistry and both do sound good too.

2. Tu Meri

With so much of cluttered electronic sounds around these days, the duo keep it clean in this trance number that has very anthemic feel to it. Vishal Dadlani’s voice seems like an ideal fit for the track.

3. Uff 2

Uff is very fresh and playful in its treatment with multi-genres in single track- from Western rock styled guitars to a capella like chorus to European classical bit. Not only the central hook is intriguingly catchy but also the use of harmonium and double bass at places is a woot. Also, ever lovely Harshdeep Kaur sings a non-Punjabi song for the first time! Benny Dayal is also effortless in shifting notes.

4. Bang Bang

The title track of the album, a disco pop number, is composed very Michael Jackson style. This song is meant to be seen rather than heard when its video has Hrithik and Katrina dazzling to it.

5. Meherbaan (Reprise)

Supported only by an acoustic guitar and Shekhar Ravijiani’s dry voice, the song overall feels very bland.

Verdict

Vishal-Shekhar had delivered quite a soundtrack for Siddharth Anand’s last Anjaana Anjaani with innovative sounds and diverse artists. Bang Bang falls short in comparison to that. But the album has listenable tracks and few has the potential to top the charts.
