Inspired from real life events, and early operations of India’s external intelligence agency—Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW)—in Pakistan, Dhurandhar is an upcoming Hindi film starring Ranveer Singh in the lead that releases in theaters on December 5, 2025.
Marking Ranveer Singh's 40th birthday on July 6, 2025 (Sunday), Dhurandhar had a first look teaser release, which showcased the many different characters played by an ensemble of strong performers—Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sara Arjun among others.

Actor Madhavan is particularly unrecognizable in the Dhurandhar teaser, where he voices the opening monologue. And going by R. Madhavan's looks, the actor seemingly plays a character inspired by India's National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval.
Ranveer Singh plays a covert officer on a high-stakes mission in Dhurandhar. A part of his onscreen mission includes getting close with the daughter of a Benazir Bhutto-inspired female Pakistani politician. Sara Arjun whom the South Indian film audience recognize as the child artiste from Deiva Thirumagal (2011), Saivam (2014), and the Ponniyin Selvan movies, plays the female lead in Dhurandhar.
20 year old Sara Arjun playing 40 year old Ranveer Singh's romantic interest, and filming her portions when she was 19, has raised eyebrows, but many also see the need for the same given the timeline and geography Dhurandhar's story in set in.
Dhurandhar is written and directed by Aditya Dhar of Uri: the Surgical Strike (2019) fame. The film is jointly produced by Dhar's home banner B62 Studios, and Jio Studios. The technical crew of Dhurandhar includes for Shashwat Sachdev for music, Vikash Nowlakha for cinematography, Shivkumar V. Panicker for edits, Kumaar for lyrics, and Aejaz Gulab, Sea Young Oh, Yannick Ben, Ramazan Bulut for the action/stunts choreography.
