Singham Returns Movie Review -  The fierceness is missing!

Rohit Shetty is back with Ajay Devgn for Singham Returns, the sequel of 2011 blockbuster movie Singham. The expectations on the film is quite high from Singham. What has Rohit Shetty got to offer in this second installment? Read on ....

Plot:

Ajay Devgan reprises his role as Bajirao Singham, an upright cop. Bajirao Singham has been promoted to Deputy Commissioner of Police and has moved to a bigger city Mumbai. The villains are god men turned politicians who are the reason for a corrupt system and here comes super cop Bajirao to fight against the corrupt system and politicians.

Villains are trying to bribe an electorate in an elections and this irks Bajirao. So he snarls roars screams flexes his muscles in quick succession. The entire police force joins in with him in the fight and innumerable cars are burnt to ashes.

Cast :

Ajay Devgan as Bajirao Singham, steals the show with his performance. Ajay Devgn carries the entire film on his shoulders. Anupam Kher, Mahesh Manjarekar acting were adequate. Kareena is just an arm candy in the movie. Kareena Kapoor as Singham's love interest has a very limited role.  Her role does not have any importance to the script, she has been used for dance and few emotional scenes.

Direction:

This Rohit Shetty's latest product, fails to deliver the entertainment that usually Rohit Shetty movies offer. The movie lacks logic, entertainment and even the actions scenes are inadequate. There is Kareena Kapoor who is there for the sake of a pretty face. There is Anupam kher as a nod to Arwind Kejriwal. Then there is non stop blasting loud action and loud songs.

The predictable narrative and the lack of fun and excitement that drives a Rohit Shetty film are a big let down in Singham Returns. While Singham was a fun-filled entertaining movie, Singham Returns does not really match up to the standards set by it.

Bottomline:

Those who liked Singham will find this familiar. Those who are new to it , my advice would be to stay away.
