Mary Kom Trailer Review - Priyanka Chopra delivers a knock-out punch!

The much awaited trailer of Priyanka Chopra starrer Mary Kom is finally out and indeed, the lady has taken all by surprise with a glimpse of her intense act in the film. Based on the real life story of India’s Boxing legend Mary Kom, the film is produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and helmed by debutant Omang Kumar. 

From the looks of the trailer, we are assured of a stupendous turn by Priyanka. She looks nothing like her usual glamorous self and looks all set to give a career defining performance as Mary Kom. After Barfi, she once again seems to have proven her versatility and a chameleon like quality to slip into her roles. The background score in the trailer reminds one of the energy of last year’s Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’s Zinda track. Also noteworthy is the cinematography and dialogues both of which accentuate the power inherent to the story. 

With supporting cast predominantly from the north east and a lovely accent in Priyankas dialogues, the trailer also shows an attempt to locate the film in the right milieu. We are given a glimpse of Mary Kom’s life, her struggle against a father who refuses to let her play a “mens” sport and then her falling in love, to preparing for the Olympic post kids. Inspirational and energetic in the same breath, Mary Kom sure promises to be a treat. September 5th is when we get to know if the film lives up to the promise of the very exciting trailer.
