Kochadaiyaan Preview - SWOT Analysis

Rajinikanth's Kochadaiyaan, which was supposed to release on May 9, was postponed at the last moment to May 23, due to technical glitches. The advance bookings have started at most of the screens today and the movie is expected to take an earth-shattering opening across the globe.

Strengths

  • Rajinikanth's last direct film Endhiran released more than 3.5 years ago, the longest gap between his any two films. Also, this is his first film after undergoing treatment for his ailment in Singapore. The die-hard fans of Rajinikanth will go all out to make this film nothing short of a hit.
  • Music director AR Rahman's majestic songs have become chart buster hits. The rich background score has imparted a sense of grandeur to the movie.
  • The movie has a host of actors including Deepika Padukone, Sarathkumar, Aadhi, Shobana, Jackie Shroff and Nassar. Although it is not a live action film, the movie boasts of being one of the most extravagant multi-starrers in Tamil.

Weaknesses

  • Film buffs exposed to new Hollywood movies are not satisfied with quality of  CG and animation. In spite of the budget and time constraints, many feel that the output could have been much better. The close-up shots and eye movements aren't as convincing.

Opportunities

  • Director Soundarya's expensive experiment could open up new avenues for the creative minds in India. Kochadaiyaan could very well be the beginning of this genre of movies.
  • The use of advanced motion capture technology has immortalized Rajinikanth. All of Rajinikanth's facial reactions, body language and detailed expressions have been captured by Director Soundarya using this technology This opens up doors for new movies of Rajinikanth continue to be made in the future even without the superstar having to show up for shooting.

Threats

  • Due to the considerable delay, repeated false-starts and missed deadlines have triggered a number of rumours and negative talks among general public and industry insiders. This has created some skepticism and moderated hype in comparison to what was seen earlier for Endhiran.

Final Words

When Rajinikanth takes over the theatres, no SWOT Analysis and review would matter to his ardent fans. As always, we will come back with the FDFS review.
