Karthi's 30th film just got a big addition - composer Devi Sri Prasad has officially come on board to score the music, with the announcement timed to coincide with DSP's birthday on Sunday.
Sharing a new poster to welcome him, the makers extended birthday wishes alongside the announcement. This project also marks DSP's first-ever collaboration with director Kalyan Shankar, known for Mad (2023) and Mad Square (2025).
The still-untitled film, backed by Sithara Entertainments, kicked off with a pooja ceremony on Karthi's birthday back in May, and filming is already underway, with the title and first-look poster expected soon.
Meenakshi Chaudhary plays the female lead, marking her first pairing with Karthi on screen. She was last seen in Anaganaga Oka Raju, with her previous Tamil appearance being in Vijay's The Greatest of All Time (GOAT). Beyond confirming DSP as composer, the makers haven't revealed further details on the supporting cast, plot, or release date yet.
Kalyan Shankar began his directing career with the youthful comedy Mad, followed by its successful sequel Mad Square. Before that, he directed the web series Nenu Mee Kalyan and worked as a writer on projects like Tillu Square, Hero, and Netflix's anthology Navarasa.
Karthi, meanwhile, has Sardar 2 releasing September 10, and Marshal — a 1960s-set period drama directed by Taanakkaran filmmaker Tamizh — lined up for Diwali, co-starring Kalyani Priyadarshan, Sathyaraj, Prabhu, Lal, John Kokken, and Eswari Rao.
