25 Days Of Bliss: Karthik Subbaraj On Composing Sessions With Ilaiyaraaja For His 10th Film

PUBLISHED DATE | 22/May/2026

Director Karthik Subbaraj has shared a heartfelt statement detailing how his 10th film came together and how he finally found the courage to approach composer Ilaiyaraaja, a collaboration he describes as a lifelong dream.

The yet-to-be-titled film is a story the director had wanted to make since Mahaan (2022), one he describes as rooted deep in his heart. "A story chooses its teller and also the time it needs to be told," he wrote, adding that it has now been made with the best possible people around it.

On Ilaiyaraaja, Karthik revealed he had never dared approach the maestro for his previous films despite always wanting to. This time, Ilaiyaraaja watched the film on a Saturday evening and agreed immediately, suggesting they begin work the very next morning. Karthik describes the 25 days of composing sessions that followed as a blissful spiritual journey. In an intriguing creative decision, Ilaiyaraaja has reportedly suggested releasing the film's background score as a separate album ahead of the theatrical release.

Produced by Guneet Monga, Achin Jain, and Jyoti Deshpande under Sikhya Entertainment and Jio Studios, the film commenced production in Madurai in November 2025. Cast, crew, and plot details are yet to be announced.
