Actor and Nadigar Sangam president Vishal has added his voice to the growing chorus of film personalities backing Vijay, as uncertainty continues to surround TVK's bid to form the Tamil Nadu government.
Despite emerging as the single largest party with 108 seats and securing a post-election alliance with Congress to take his count to 113, Vijay's request to take oath as Chief Minister was rejected by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, who cited doubts over proving majority.
Taking to X, Vishal questioned why the Governor was hesitating to give Vijay the opportunity to form the government — drawing parallels with Goa, Manipur, Meghalaya, and Karnataka elections of 2017-18, where governments were sworn in first and then asked to prove majority on the Assembly floor. "What is the respect for the people's mandate? We have 233 MLAs to be sworn in and we need a government — not a Governor's rule — after such a big mandate by TVK," he said firmly.
Vishal also penned a personal note to Vijay, expressing his conviction that he will form the government. "I am manifesting it," he added.
Kamal Haasan and Prakash Raj had earlier extended similar support to Vijay on the same issue.
On the film front, Vishal was last seen in Rathnam and has his directorial debut Magudam in its final stages of production. He is also part of Sundar C's Purushan, starring Tamannaah and Yogi Babu.
