Dhruva Natchathiram Release Edges Closer - Investors Agree to Escrow Arrangement

PUBLISHED DATE | 24/Apr/2026

In a significant development, the long-running legal battle over Vikram's Dhruva Natchathiram has taken a positive turn. Investors K Punniyamoorthy and K Premkumar have expressed willingness to allow the film's release, on the condition that box office revenues are routed through an escrow account to ensure all stakeholders receive their due share.

The matter was heard by Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy of the Madras High Court, who directed both the investors and director Gautham Vasudev Menon to file their respective affidavits by Tuesday, April 28. The court also noted that multiple other parties hold financial stakes in the film and need to be compensated before and after release. The judge observed that a commercial release would ultimately serve everyone's best interests.

The case has been adjourned to April 28 for affidavit submissions.

Dhruva Natchathiram, which began production in 2017 and wrapped filming in 2023, has battled financial troubles, legal complications, and the COVID-19 pandemic. A November 2023 release was pulled just a day before it was due, and a February 2024 plan also fell through — leaving fans waiting for years.
