Veteran actor Sivakumar had a pointed message for whoever comes to power in Tamil Nadu after casting his vote on polling day. Speaking to the media, he made a direct appeal — shut down TASMAC shops immediately.
"It is time to stop turning kudimakkal into kudikara makkal," he said sharply, taking a dig at the state's alcohol revenue model. He urged those in power to focus on bettering citizens' lives rather than filling their own coffers through liquor sales.
TASMAC, the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation, is the government-run body overseeing alcohol sales across the state.
Votes are being cast today from 7 AM to 6 PM, with results announced on May 4.
