Actor Dhanush is set to reunite with filmmaker Mari Selvaraj after Karnan for the highly anticipated D56. The director has now revealed that the film will go on floors in September.

Speaking at a recent press meet, Mari Selvaraj described the project as a fantasy, historical and political film, adding that it will be the biggest venture of his career. He explained that the story traces the origins of themes explored in his earlier films and imagines what would happen if those roots were erased, making the film a massive creative and technical undertaking.

The film will feature music by A. R. Rahman, marking his reunion with the director after Maamannan. D56 is produced by Ishari K. Ganesh under the banner of Vels Film International.
