Jana Nayagan Stuck in Censor Trouble; Vishal Demands Industry Unity

PUBLISHED DATE | 23/Feb/2026

Actor Vishal has spoken about the delay surrounding Jana Nayagan, starring Vijay, which remains stalled due to censor-related issues.

Speaking after casting his vote in the Producers’ Council elections, Vishal said it should not be left to a single individual or only the council president to raise concerns. He emphasized that if all 1,519 members of the Producers’ Council stood united before the Censor Board, it would create a stronger impact. He added that collective effort — including members who lost the elections — is necessary for progress.

He also clarified that since the matter is currently before the High Court, no organisation or individual can interfere, stressing that approaching the judiciary is a rightful process.

Criticising the certification structure, Vishal questioned how a small panel of four or five members could decide cuts for films watched by nearly 70 million people. However, he acknowledged that despite disagreements, the existing rules must still be followed.

Directed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, Jana Nayagan has reportedly faced objections over certain scenes, delaying its censor certificate. The film, featuring Mamitha Baiju, Pooja Hegde, Prakash Raj and Gautham Menon, continues to await clearance as the case remains in court.
