Jana Nayagan is NOT a complete remake - Anil Ravipudi

PUBLISHED DATE | 12/Jan/2026

Amid speculation that Jana Nayagan might be a remake of Anil Ravipudi’s Bhagavanth Kesari, the filmmaker has clarified that the Vijay starrer is not a scene-by-scene remake. Speaking to the media during interactions for his upcoming release Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu, Anil Ravipudi opened up about Jana Nayagan, one of the most awaited films of Thalapathy Vijay.

Ravipudi stated that while the film retains the soul of the original concept, only select portions such as the initial 20 minutes, the interval block fight, and key episodes in the second half have been carried forward. He also confirmed that the villain track has been completely changed.

Jana Nayagan, directed by H. Vinoth, marks Vijay’s final outing as an actor before he shifts his full focus to his political career. The film was initially scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on January 9, 2026, but has been postponed due to a censor-related issue. The case hearing regarding the censor matter is taking place today.

“I hope this will be the biggest blockbuster farewell to Vijay Garu,” said Anil Ravipudi.
