Sudha Kongara–directed Parasakthi, starring Sivakarthikeyan in the lead, has taken a crucial step forward on the release front. The film has been certified U/A in India after undergoing 25 cuts/modifications/deletions, clearing the way for its theatrical release on January 10, 2026.

The certified runtime of Parasakthi is 162 minutes 43 seconds (2 hours, 42 minutes, 43 seconds).

Set in the 1960s, Parasakthi is a period action drama inspired by real-life anti-Hindi agitations in Tamil Nadu. The film also stars Ravi Mohan, Sreeleela, and Atharvaa, with GV Prakash Kumar composing the music. Produced by Dawn Pictures, the film is being distributed in Tamil Nadu by Red Giant Movies, the production banner of Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, with Inbanidhi Stalin making his Tamil film distribution debut.

According to the certification document, the Examining Committee ordered a series of audio mutes, word replacements, visual reductions, and deletions, including:

• Dialogue and subtitle modifications related to sensitive political and linguistic references (including changes to specific phrases wherever they appeared in visuals, subtitles, and dialogues).

• Muting or replacing multiple slang and abusive words across several time codes.

• Reduction of sensitive visuals, such as:

  • Immolation visuals (reduced by 50%)

  • Village massacre sequences, including deletion of certain violent shots (50% reduction)

• Deletion of specific visuals, including:

  • Burning of an effigy with a controversial slogan

  • Gunshot visuals involving a mother and child

  • Visuals depicting cow dung applied on a post office signboard

• Removal of certain dialogues and subtitles deemed provocative or inflammatory.

• Insertion and extension of a fiction disclaimer during sequences referencing institutions like postal services, UPSC examinations, railway interviews, and language proficiency—along with muting of surnames.

• The fiction disclaimer duration was extended, with a Tamil voice-over added for clarity.

Overall, the total changes account for approximately 52 seconds of deletions and 27 seconds of replacements, with no additional footage inserted.

With certification now complete, Parasakthi is officially locked for release, marking one of the most closely watched Tamil film releases of 2026 due to its subject matter and political-historical backdrop.
