Madras High Court Issues Interim Stay on Vaa Vaathiyaar Release

PUBLISHED DATE | 04/Dec/2025

The Madras High Court has issued an interim stay halting the release of the film Vaa Vaathiyaar, ruling that Studio Green cannot move forward with the release until the pending ₹21.78 crore owed to the late Arjunlal Sundardas is fully repaid. The case was filed by Arjunlal Sundardas against producer Gnanavel Raja, and the matter has now been posted for its next hearing on December 8.

Vaa Vaathiyaar is directed by Nalan Kumarasamy and stars Karthi in the lead role. The film is positioned as an action-comedy entertainer, featuring Krithi Shetty, Sathyaraj, and Raj Kiran in prominent roles.

The film, which was initially slated for release on December 5, 2025, was postponed to December 12, 2025. The Telugu version, titled Annagaru Vostaru, is planned for a simultaneous release. However, clarity on the actual release date will be known only after the next hearing.

Further updates will depend on the court proceedings scheduled for December 8.
