Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan is one actor who has often been falsely suspected of doing cameos in Kollywood productions, because of him getting spotted on film sets; case in point: Superstar Rajinikanth's Jailer (2022), and Ajith Kumar's Thunivu (2022).
The only time Sivakarthikeyan was actually seen in a cameo in another star actor's movie was in the Vijay starrer The Greatest of All Time (2024). Rumours of Sivakarthikeyan's cameo is back in season again, and this time the actor is buzzed to be making a special appearance in the Lokesh Kanagaraj directed Coolie starring Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead.
During the Nelson directed Jailer, Rajinikanth played a character inspired by Sivakarthikeyan's real life late father; The actor's pictures with his father were used as mimic-props in the movie to represent Rajinikanth and his onscreen son. Nelson shares a close relationship with Sivakarthikeyan, so this wasn't unprecedented. However fans were eager to glimpse of Siva in a Rajini movie, considering his fondness for the Superstar.
Rumours are currently abuzz that this might finally be happening. A few days ago, Coolie star Aamir Khan shared an Instagram update that read, "Cast of Coolie watching Sitaare Zameen Par", and Sivakarthikeyan was tagged along with the Coolie's core team.
Sivakarthikeyan was also spotted in a still shared by the directors' team of Coolie, suggesting a cameo by the actor in Rajinikanth's film. It is worth noting here that Sivakarthikeyan also shares a good rapport with Coolie writer, director Lokesh Kanagaraj, to the point that Lokesh was almost cast as a villain in one of Sivakarthikeyan's upcoming films, Parasakthi.
So it remains ambiguous if Sivakarthikeyan hanging around with team Coolie constitutes to a cameo alone. Coolie produced by Sun Pictures, and with Anirudh Ravichander for music, releases in theaters worldwide on August 14, 2025 in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, and Kannada.
