Karuppu starring Suriya in the lead marks the actor's debut collaboration with writer, director RJ Balaji, who inturn is directing a male A-lister for the first time with this movie. Karuppu is gearing up for a teaser release at 10 AM on July 23, 2025, and leading upto the same two first look posters of Suriya from the film have been unveiled marking the actor's 50th birthday.  

Karuppu is touted to be a divine fantasy action, and Suriya was seen in a rustic element alongside clan deity 'Ayyanar', whose devotee he plays in the movie. Suriya's character is also said to be a lawyer in Karuppu, though official confirmation on the same awaits. 

A Dream Warrior Pictures production, Karuppu has Trisha playing female lead, and also stars Indrans, Natarajan "Natty" Subramanian, Swasika, Sshivada, Supreeth Reddy, Anagha Maaya Ravi, among others. 

The technical crew of Karuppu includes Sai Abhyankkar for music, GK Vishnu for cinematography, Vikram Mor for stunts, R Kalaivanan for edits, Arun Venjaramoodu for production design, and Praveen Raja for costume design.
