Back in September 2024, there was a widespread buzz that Ayngaran International are the front-runners to bag the Coolie distribution in overseas regions. This was further fuelled by Ayngaran International's YouTube channel sharing a series of videos from Rajinikanth's Billa (1980), around the same time. Latest we hear, Ayngaran International has bagged the Coolie overseas distribution, in a highest ever deal in Tamil Cinema history. 

Coolie is a production venture of Sun Pictures. Ayngaran International had previously distributed Rajinikanth's blockbuster hit Jailer (2023), also produced by Sun Pictures. While Jailer is written and directed by Nelson and is currently in production with a sequel titled Jailer 2, Coolie is written and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. 

Coolie is also a multi-starrer like Jailer. Director Lokesh's film comes boasting of a big star cast including names like Aamir Khan (cameo), Nagarjuna (villain), Upendra, Pooja Hegde (dance appearance), Shruthi Haasan, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, among others. As with Jailer and Jailer 2, Anirudh Ravichander has composed music for Coolie.
