Dhanush to Play Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam in Upcoming Biopic Kalam

In a major announcement at the Cannes Film Festival, it has been confirmed that actor Dhanush will play the lead role in Kalam, a biographical film based on the life of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam — the 11th President of India and one of the country’s most respected scientists and inspirational leaders.

Kalam will be directed by Om Raut, known for his grand storytelling style. The film will follow Dr. Kalam's journey — from his simple childhood in Rameswaram, to becoming a top scientist, and later the President of India. It will also focus on his key role in India’s space and missile programs and his lasting image as “The People’s President.”

The film is produced by Abhishek Agarwal, known for hits like The Kashmir Files and The Delhi Files. It is also backed by T-Series heads Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar, along with Anil Sunkara. The screenplay is written by Saiwyn Quadras, who is known for his strong work on biopics and emotional dramas.

Dhanush, a National Award-winning actor known for his versatility, will portray Dr. Kalam. This is expected to be a milestone role in his career, as he brings to life one of India’s greatest visionaries.
