Tamil star actor and budding politician Vijay is bidding adieu to cinema with his last release Jana Nayagan. Jana Nayagan was initially scheduled to hit theater screens in October 2025, but is now releasing on January 9, 2026 marking Pongal next year. 

Simultaneously Vijay through Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), is also prepping to contest in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Elections, expected to be held in April–May 2026. At this time, rumours were rife that actor Vijay is listening to scripts for a new movie after Jana Nayagan. 

MovieCrow reached out to multiple sources all of whom have consistently denied the development. Debunking the rumour, the sources maintain that there is no iota of truth to Vijay listening to new scripts, and state that this misinformation may be an attempt at diluting Vijay’s serious intentions in politics. 

It is worth mentioning here that Vijay as the president of the TVK party has declared BJP as its 'ideological enemy'. However, TVK's alliance strategy in going up against regional top-dogs like the DMK or the AIADMK in the 2026 assembly elections, remains unannounced as of date.
