L2 Empuraan starring Mohanal in all set to release in theaters on March 27, 2025 worldwide. The second film of a planned trilogy, Empuraan sees the return of Mohanlal as rising Kerala politician Stephen Nedumpally, who also leads a double life as internationally wanted trade criminal, Khureshi Ab'ram. 

L2E as the film is also known is scheduled to hit theaters screens in Malayalam, Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, and Kannada languages. L2E's predecessor Lucifer, was all about eliminating the hostile take-over the ruling Indian Union Front (IUF) party, after the death of Kerala Chief Minister P. K. Ramdas (Sachin Khedekar). 

The first movie established Manju Warrier as the daughter of PKR, Tovino Thomas as her USA-return brother Jathin, and Mohanlal as their adoptive brother due to whom PK Ramdas and his wife separated. Lucifer also established Prithviraj Sukumaran as Zayed Masood, a trusted aide of Mohanlal's character. 

The aftermath of Tovino Thomas taking over as the Chief Minister of Kerala, and backstories of Mohanlal and Prithviraj is what is expected to unfold in L2: Empuraan. Meanwhile, Lucifer is available to stream on OTT platforms like Sony Liv—for the Hindi version—and Amazon Prime Video for the Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu versions.
