L2E has a trailer release on March 20, 2025, and the video showcases the return of Lucifer film characters namely Priya (Manju Warrier), her USA-return brother Jathin (Tovino Thomas) who is now the Kerala Chief Minister succeeding their late father P. K. Ramdas (Sachin Khedekar), Zayed Massood (Prithviraj Sukumaran), Stephen Nedumpally (Mohanlal) aka Khureshi Abram's aide, among others.
While the first movie Lucifer was all about eliminating the hostile take-over the ruling Indian Union Front (IUF) party, its sequel L2E promises a dive into the aftermath. Stephen Nedumpally's double identity of Khureshi Ab'ram also seems to be the focus of the second movie.
A planned trilogy, both Lucifer and L2: Empuraan are written by Murali Gopy. While the first movie was produced solely by Aashirvad Cinemas, L2E is a joint production venture of Aashirvad Cinemas, Sree Gokulam Movies, and Lyca Productions.
Lucifer's cinematographer Sujith Vaassudev, art director Mohandas, action choreographer Stunt Silva, and music composer Deepak Dev have returned for L2E. L2 Empuraan's technical crew additionally includes Akhilesh Mohan for edits, Vishal Tyagi for SFX, and YFX Studios, Labyrinth Studios- Mumbai, Binary Circus, Paperplane, Ident, and DTM for the VFX.
