Daaku Maharaj starring Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead is a Telugu language action drama that also stars Bobby Deol, Pragya Jaiswal, Shraddha Srinath, Urvashi Rautela, among others. The movie written and directed by Bobby Kolli released in theaters on January 12, 2025, and had become a hot topic for Balakrishna and Urvashi Rautela's dance in the song Dabidi Dibidi.
Urvashi Rautela's campaign of making shock-inducing statements about Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan's stabbing incident (for which she later apologized), and promoting even Telugu memes of her and Balakrishna, had lead to a ton of trolling with her home base, the Hindi audience. Despite the same, Daaku Maharaj went on to make Rs. 105 Cr+ in box-office collections.
"It is very unfortunate (stabbing of actor Saif Ali Khan). Now Daaku Maharaaj has crossed Rs 105 crore at the box office, and my mother gifted me this diamond-studded Rolex, while my father gifted me this mini watch watch on my finger. But we don't feel confident to wear it outside openly. There is this insecurity that anybody can attack us. Whatever happened was very unfortunate." - Urvashi Rautela to the Mumbai press in January 2025, which was called out for its tone-deaf insensitivity by the general public.
Now Daaku Maharaj is all set for a digital premiere, and Netflix has announced Daaku Maharaj's OTT release date as February 21, 2025. Notably, the streaming platform excluded Urvashi Rautela from its announcement poster, leading to further trolling of the actress with the Hindi cine audience.
All that noise and she's not even on the poster... https://t.co/cap9Sa6Csb
