In an era of South Indian cinema where runtime of movies are usually trimmed post a film's release, the makers of Telugu film Pushpa 2: The Rule have probably started a revolution, by deciding to add 20 minutes to the movie, a whole month after its theatrical run. Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa 2: The Rule released on December 5, 2024 as a successor to the Sukumar directed hit movie Pushpa: The Rise (2021).
Pushpa 2 collected a whopping Rs. 1799 Cr. in 28 days, according to the global box-office gross announced by the film's producers Mythri Movie Makers. Now they have confirmed that a reloaded version of Pushpa 2 will release on January 11, 2025, marking the Sankranti weekend.
Pushpa 2 was already one of the longest ever Indian movies made with a runtime of 200 minutes i.e. 3 hours and 20 minutes. Now with an additional 20 minutes, Pushpa 2 reloaded version's runtime stands at 3 hours and 40 minutes i.e. 220 minutes.
The Pushpa franchise follows the story of Pushpa Raj (Allu Arjun), a coolie risen to the ranks of sandalwood smuggler, who begins to face tough opposition from enemies, including SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat IPS (Fahadh Fassil). Pushpa 2: The Rule ends with a cliffhanger, revealing a third part is to come as Pushpa 3: The Rampage.
