Allu Arjun sent to Chanchalguda Jail on a 14 day remand in the Pushpa 2 Sandhya Theater stampede case!

Pushpa 2: The Rule actor Allu Arjun has been sent to Chanchalguda Jail on a 14 day remand, in connection with the Sandhya theater stampede case that resulted in the death of a 35 year old woman named Revathi, and her 9 year old son being hospitalized in critical condition due to asphyxiation.

On Friday, shockwaves echoed across the Indian film industry when the Hyderbad police showed up at Allu Arjun's house to arrest the star actor from his Jubilee Hills residence. He was produced in Nampally court, where Allu Arjun was issued a 14 day demand.

The court observed that M. Sandeep, one of the owners of Sandhya Theatre, senior manager M. Nagaraju, and Gandhakam Vijay Chander, who oversaw the theatre's lower balcony, have been sent to a 14 day remand, and so will Allu Arjun who has been named in the Hyderbad police FIR based on a complaint from deceased victim Revathi's husband Bhaskar. Bhaskar however told the Telugu media reporters on Friday,

"We only went to Sandhya Theatre that day because my son wanted to watch the movie. It's not Allu Arjun's fault that he visited the theatre that day. I am ready to withdraw my case. Police didn't inform me of his arrest, I watched it on the news at the hospital. He (Arjun) has nothing to do with stampede."

Allu Arjun was previously questioned at Chanchalguda jail, and then sent to Gandhi hospital for medical examination. Currently the actor is being transferred to the Chanchalguda jail. It was previously suggested that Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna's surprise visit to the Pushpa 2 premiere at Sandhya Theaters on December 4, 2024 is what caused the overcrowding and stampede to happen.

However, a copy of Sandhya Theater management seeking police security on December 4, knowing in advance that Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna would visit, has surfaced in the case. The Hyderabad police probe noted that Sandhya Theater does not have a separate entry or exit for celebrities/VIPS, hence when Allu Arjun showed up at 9: 30 PM on December 4, a big crowd tried entering the theater along with the actor.

Allu Arjun's personal security team while pushing at the crowd seems to have aggravated the situation, resulting in stampede among the people. Revathi, who was at the Sandhya Theater with her family to catch the Pushpa 2 premiere, was caught in the stampede, and so was her 9 year old son. The mother and son were found by the police security stationed at the premises for crowd management, performed CPR, and rushed them to the hospital.

Doctors declared Revathi dead upon arrival, while her son remains in critical condition at the hospital. Based on a complaint by Bhaskar, an FIR was filed under BNS section 105 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 118(1) r/w 3(5) (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt) at Chikkadpally police station, and the arrests of Sandhya Theater owner, employees, and actor Allu Arjun were carried out.
