Bloody Beggar starring actor Kavin in the lead is one of the three new Tamil film releasing in theaters on October 31, 2024, marking Diwali. The movie is written and directed by first time director Sivabalan Muthukumar, and is produced by first time producer, and well known director Nelson Dilipkumar.
5 reasons to watch Bloody Beggar in theaters:
1. Genre: While Bloody Beggar is a movie for all audience, its black comedy genre is very much in the taste of the new generation of movie goers. Dark humour as a film genre was popularized in Tamil by filmmakers Pushkar and Gayathri with Va Quarter Cutting (2010), but never really took off in the mainstream until director Nelson templated it in his own films, Kolamaavu Kokila (2018), Doctor (2021), and even Beast (2022), and Jailer (2023).
A full fledged black comedy thriller releasing for Diwali, competing against two bigger movies, sets a new precedent for Tamil cinema.
2. Kavin: Ever since his Bigg Boss Tamil stint, actor Kavin has played interesting lead roles in horror thriller (Lift), and coming-of-age films (Dada, Star). Bloody Beggar comes across as his most experimental attempt to date.
3. Brand Nelson: Even in his own debut directorial, Nelson Dilipkumar's attention to detail, and not taking the audience for granted was heavily evident. The now big filmmaker has maintained his brand with Bloody Beggar.
Bloody Beggar director Sivabalan Muthukumar, an erstwhile assistant of Nelson, has also showcased potential going the teasers, trailers, songs and other promotional material for the movie.
4. Interesting Plot: Bloody Beggar revolves around a lazy beggar, who finds himself stuck in a palace, after he sneaks in there to experience the building's lifestyle for a brief moment. How Kavin the beggar escapes from doing the deeds of the greedy, seems to be the rest of the story.
Not only has the core plot interested the Tamil audience, but how it will take form has kept them intrigued.
5. Technical Value: Bloody Beggar's runtime of 2 hours 16 minutes and 15 seconds is a plus. Additionally the film looks technically sound in all aspects including Jen Martin's music, Sujith Sarang's cinematography, R. Nirmal's edits or the makeup, costumes and art of the movie. Action Santhosh, Metro Mahesh have choreographed the stunts, which adds to the mystery of Bloody Beggar.
