Vettaiyan: Rajinikanth's film producers do not claim loss rumours

PUBLISHED DATE | 21/Oct/2024

Vettaiyan starring Rajinikanth in the lead is a Lyca Productions venture that released in theaters on October 10, 2024. Made on a budget of Rs. 300 Cr, Vettaiyan was officially announced to have collected Rs. 240 Cr+ within the first four days of release.

Despite going strong in theaters of not just Tamil Nadu but also Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, rumours were abuzz that Vettaiyan's box-office expectation was not met, and that the makers were vying for another collaboration with Rajinikanth, when they met the Superstar with the whole team on day 5 of the film's release.

MovieCrow however learns that team Vettaiyan has met the financial expectations, since the movie was Lyca Productions' own release in majority of the locations. Vettaiyan was also sold on a commission basis where the film wasn't a direct Lyca release, and hence sources close to the production house have dismissed these rumours as 'baseless'.

Rajinikanth is currently shooting for Coolie with director Lokesh Kanagaraj and Sun Pictures production house, and this will be the actor's next release after Vettaiyan. Post Coolie, Rajinikanth will be doing the Jailer sequel Jailer 2, which is touted to be titled Hukum, after the viral song from the prequel.

Director Nelson Dilipkumar and music composer Anirudh Ravichander will once again be reuniting with Rajinikanth for Jailer 2. Jailer 2 will be Rajinikanth's second consecutive film with Sun Pictures after Coolie
