Kanguva: A Mighty Valiant Saga is a fantasy action movie starring actor Suriya in the lead. The film was originally scheduled to hit theater screens on October 10, 2024 for Dussehra this year. When Kanguva's release date was officially announced in July, Rajinikanth had already unofficially confirmed (in June) that his film Vettaiyan was releasing on that same date. 

However Kanguva producer KE Gnanavel Raja, whose Studio Green banner is one of the two production companies backing the movie, had said that Kanguva release date was announced keeping in mind the possibility of Vettaiyan getting pushed to Diwali. Gnanavel Raja was also clear about not intending a box-office clash with a Rajinikanth movie. 

Following this, Rajinikanth's Vettaiyan release date was officially announced as October 10, 2024 in August. As the inevitable Kanguva Vs Vettaiyan clash loomed, actor Suriya on Saturday confirmed that Kanguva release date was getting postponed, paving way for Vettaiyan's solo release on October 10. 

"For more than two and a half years, more than 1000 people have worked day and night to give a special movie for Tamil cinema. From (director) Siva to (cinematographer) Vetri to (music composer) Devi (Sri Prasad) to the team, the cast & crew to the unit people, they have endured rain and shine, cold weather, mountain peaks, seas, under water, and worked. I believe that this hard work will not go in vain anywhere.

 

I believe you (the audience) will give due love and respect for the same. All I have to say is it will come, let it come. Ok, on October 10th Rajini Sir's Vettaiyan is releasing. In respect of Vettaiyan, he (Rajinikanth) is elder to us, he (Rajini) came into acting when I was born, for more than 50 years he (Rajinikanth) has been a identity of Tamil cinema, for that elder, for Mr. Superstar, it is only right that his film comes is my belief. I also believe that you (the fans) will stand by me in this.

 

Kanguva is a baby. The day that baby takes birth is its birthday. I believe you all (fans) will be there with me to celebrate its birthday, to turn it into a festival. Now, buzz has it that the new Kanguva release date is November 14 (Thursday); the film is releasing in standard, 3D formats. An official announcement on the same is however awaited. Kanguva is written and directed by Siva. The movie has Devi Sri Prasad for music, and also stars Bobby Deol, Disha Patani among others.
